Funny how the famine to feast thing happens sometimes!
Just curious... do my eyes spot rubberized waterproofing flaking off? Wouldn't be surprised as that sort of early stuff had some teething problems.

Hi Gulf
If you find the original plastic closers removing the Velcro and poppers is going to leave holes, Looking at the photos it looks like the poppers could be origional to the piece.

I would personally leave the pop-studs as a legitimate field modification, since you have the other one as an example of its original issue. I just recently viewed two of these on eBay and I am glad I have two examples in my own collection, they were starting at twice what I had paid for mine.
