    Hello Graham,

Thanks..... The beret is black. It is in much better condition than the photo shows.

Should have taken a new photo, but .....I am a bit backed up at the moment...

    Hi Rip
That is interesting being that your Beret is Black I think means that it belonged to someone from the Rhodesian Staff Corps who was attached to the Rhodesian Armoured Car Regiment as they were the only unit that wore black berets, FYO both the Staff Corps And the Rhodesian Defence Regt wore the Staff Corps badge on a rifle green beret the Staff corps had red felt behind the badge and the RDR had green. A friend of mine has a black beret with a right facing Staff Corps collar badge  on red felt on it it was issued to an officer from the South African Armoured Corps who was attached to the RhAC as an observer.

    Regards
    G.

Looks like genuine material but as rip says, clean ... maybe too clean. Would need a pic of the interior to make a better judgement but from these it could either be period made and not used or ... post-conflict made for the collector market. From what I've observed there isn't much evidence for berets in Rhodie camouflage unlike their cross border brethren in South Africa where berets exist in a number of SAP/SADF camo.

Rhodie camo became collectable almost as soon as Rhodesia 'fell' but good pieces in mint condition can still be found coming out of the woodwork.

Sorry chaps I didn't make my self clear the beret is a repro I made for an exrhodesian vet from some fabric I had lying around hence its shiny clean condition.

The material is super, and you did a great job of the beret.

Any one should be happy with a repro such as this..
