FSLN banner from Nicaragua (Circa 1995)

This is an FSLN banner that my friend brought back from Nicaragua circa 1995. My friend was doing some humanitarian work in Nicaragua and traded some modern clothes to another US citizen for this banner. He told me this banner came from the outside of Daniel Ortega's home during the time he was under house arrest. Their office was right across the street from Ortega's home! I can tell you that several of the loops are broken as if it was torn down. My buddy told me he could have been executed or put into a Nicaraguan jail (a fate worse than death)for having this flag in his posession. Needless to say...I bugged him until he gave me this flag in 2000!!!!!! NOW before anyone says anything....it has a GOOD HOME!

I remember in about 1984 spending a few days in managua, we went to FSLN HQ, gave them some $$$ and got a couple FSLN flags as well as cuban army magazines. Not realizing that might not be the smartest thing to do as we were flying to El Salvador next. We arrive in San Sal and signs all over the place anti FSLN etc. me and my friend decide better to lose the stuff so stuffed it in a trash can in the toilet at the San Salvador airport before we passed thru customs. woulda had a hard time explaining them! Wish I still had em!

Cool story Chris! I only have one other FSLN banner and it was captured inside El Salvador in the early 1980's and brought back by a former US advisor. Unfortunately, it has been cut a little.
