From what I have been able to piece together, this beret was used by Portuguese "Flechas" units during the Ultramar wars. Weather or not they actually used it in combat, or solely for dress purposes is unclear. I have never seen another like it in any collection. When I bought it, it was dressed up with some right-wing christian militia patch, ouch! Luckily, they did not do it too much harm.

Ah, it is still one of my favorite pieces in my collection, so I think I will have to pass for now. I am still trying to get together the rest of the uniform (early type). I'll keep you in mind if I ever decide to sell it, though
