If not worn out there should be markings,sort of white painted on each puttee when you unroll them.

The markings have been washed/worn out but they are in good nick.

As unfortunately is usually the case with the markings.
There are also private purchase ones made by FOX of a lighter coloured,finer material,used by officers maybe??

Hi Gulf they are not the officers type fawn ones shown in the above photo on the left but the OR's shown on the right
even without markings they were a good find for 2 quid.

That is a result! I liked puttees, they supported your ankles whilst running really well.
But here's a tragic story for you:
When I was a recruit, I bought what turned out to be a pair of whoppingly long puttees from my local surplus store. I EASILY could wrap them up to my knees in the correct fashion. I quickly realised that they were WWI issue.
Do you know what I did?
In those days, I only collected webbing and didn't care about anything else. I had the brilliant idea of cutting them midway to make two pairs of short puttees!
It STILL (rightly!) bothers me, that...
