Going off your photo alone, the early model seems to lack the knitted/elastic cuffs, no foliage straps on the chest, and the uppermost button is concealed in the windproof flap.

Good collection of Fallschrimspringer items.
The east Germans did not use the term Fallschirmjäger.

Hmmm... Then how do you explain this Handbuch für Fallschirmjäger issued by the East German Army in 1976, or the name of their Paratrooper Battalion the 40. Fallschirmjägerbataillon "Willi Sänger".
