Well this arrived today and I was a little mmm yeah when I bought it but it's amazing.

The pictures don't do this jacket any good, it's amazing colour , super dayglow.

    1968 tropical material
    No FFD
Size 2 so kinda pre 80's
    Grenade ring and pin
    Brown bakerlite buttons, not plastic.
    OPTI zipper

Tag is washed out but I can faintly read

    SIZE 2
    SMOCK
    Could be TROPICAL

And all the regular bits and bobs like care and wash.

Looks issue at a guess ?

I think the buttons tell us this is not standard production. Beautiful

Yeah it's an odd one this. I thought when I bought it , it could have been webtex or something along the lines. The size 2 threw that out of the window as its way before 3rd party makers started up.

The bakerlite buttons in brown match up with tropicals of 60's and 70's period and also the early 63patt DPM windproofs. The camo print is that of the late 60's so tie in the buttons and size format points to very early made.

The colour on this smock is gorgiouse and I really mean that, the best looking smock I've seen. When the sunlight hits it it's glows like I'm wearing a light up suit !

See if Dave has a take on this ?

I'm reluctant to say experimental as its hard to tell with Brit kit unless it's blinding obvious.

Just wish the tag was little more easy to read.

Experimental, commercial or otherwise, that is one awesome radioactive-tinted smock! Super envious! Laughing

    Yeah Tuesday I think ?

I did loose it but the next bidder retracted the bid with 4 mins remaining , so it cost me £21.99

Nice smock but i don't think it's issue though. I've never heard of a topical smock. Can't think why you'd want one - the trops do the job nicely. You don't need a hood in the jungle !

    Yeah could be Dave.

I can't read the tag so I can't give the correct info other than making out smock and size 2. I guessed tropical due to material and the brown buttons which are only found on trop stuff ( till deserts were made anyways ). I'm not too clued up on 3rd party kit from 70's period so I can't say if it is or isn't. The "size2" as we know is pre 84 sizing, it's vintage at least and 30+ years old so can't be many knocking about to prove what it is.
    It's cool whatever it is.

I'd like to think its something wonderful made for the men in black but hey , could have even been worn by an12 year old lass in the cadets Laughing
