A good few years ago I am sure I saw a Desert DP Sniper Smock on E-bay circa 2009 and thought oooh they have a Desert Sniper Smock (At this time I had a Woodland DP one and thought it would go great with my collection). Op Herrick and Telic were ongoing and initial thoughts were that the MOD were in a sense copying kit on issue but in Desert DP to give the lads kit suitable for their environments abroad.

After seeing the smock, I didn’t purchase as at the time, I thought more of these would pop up....errrr it was the only one I have ever seen!! So it has been on my bucket list of items ever since!! As at Fridays date, I have never seen one.

Friday I was looking at the MOD disposal site and behold this was on their stating 'Dessert Camouflage Smock' - New, No Tags'. At this point I thought do I bite the bullet and buy it and get the smock to find no labels and it could be another smock like the Desert Para Smock which went into production but at unit level with NSN labels ?! It landed today and to be honest I am blown away - a Trial item !!! I have never seen one before and think could this be the only one ( I am hoping so, unless and I will be devastated if you guy's all post similar ones !! Smile )

Apologies for going on but I wanted to share the lengths I have been searching for this smock and have put below pics...

Desert DP Sniper Smock, identical to the Woodland DP and now the new MTP model. Jacket is made from Windproof material

    Padded forearm and knitted cuffs

Side pockets (although similar to the Para Smock, the Sniper Smock has its lower pockets on the side rather than the front) with visibale sling loops.

Woollen cuff with visible foilage loop

Front of Smock has two padded areas above breast pockets

Rear of smock shows foilage loops and also then flap to prevent smock riding up when crawling.

Inside of smock has poachers pouch. As you can see the cmock has no lining, its very thin and lightweight

NSN Test Lable a bit different with it stating Cooneen Watts & Stone. Although 170/104, feels like 160/104.
