Another update to the list, with various things cleaned up, modified, and changed. On the one hand things are becoming a lot clearer to me, on the other hand the list of uniforms I don't have has doubled since we started this discussion
M02 Desert:
1st Model = 1st pattern camo, smooth cloth, no arm pockets, use of buttons for various things. 2003 only date seen.
2nd Model = 1st pattern camo, smooth cotton, two arm pockets, heavy use of velcro. 2004 only date seen.
3rd Model = identical to above, but 2nd pattern camo and different cloth. 2006 earliest, 2008 latest seen.
4th Model (Ripstop) = identical (or pretty close to it!) to above, but ripstop cloth. 2006 earliest, 2012 latest seen.
M98 Temperate:
Only Model? = smooth cloth, epaulets for rank, no arm pockets, use of buttons for various things. 2000 and 2001 dates seen.
M04 Temperate:
1st Model = same as M98 except single chest epaulet for rank, no shoulder epaulets, and velcro on arms.
2nd Model (Ripstop) = seems identical to 1st Model except in Ripstop.
3rd Model = same as 1st Model except Canadian buttons and small covered buttons on shoulders for brassards. 2007 date seen.
M04 Tropical:
1st Model = similar to M02 Desert 2nd/3rd Models except chest pockets are pleated, no lower pockets, and the right pocket has a hanger for ID badging.
2nd Model = details not established yet.
3rd Model (Ripstop) = two slant chest pockets, two arm pockets, no lower pockets. Pocket flaps are pointed. 2006 date confirmed.
4th Model (Ripstop) = similar to 3rd Model but with square pocket flaps.
5th Model = details not established yet.
M04 Tropical (Naval):
Only Model? = same as Army M04 2nd Model (Ripstop), but in fire retardant cloth.
Question about the Naval uniform... is there any feature that makes it obviously a Navy uniform? I assume the label inside specifies it is flame retardant?
