Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
Hmm. Kinda looks like BW desert flecktarn, but certainly it isn't a BW uniform.

Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
That was my first thought. I was like since when have they been wearing tropentarn. Then closer look noticed it was digital. Then i thought digital tropentarn. Then go a good close photo and its is similar but different

Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
Maybe Alex can give us some more detailed info. The Bulgarians planned to issue/trial stuff that looks like
a digi Flecktarn version.....seems like they already did, maybe for testing.

Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
Sounds like that maybe it. but I love how all new uniform trials got to high ranking officers. in office jobs. not troops on the ground. Seems army stupid is universal in most countries.

Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
That seems to be the way of things with the ex-Warsaw Pact/Soviet states in particular. I've got pictures of senior Ukrainian officers (and Poroshenko) in uniforms that were experimental and never issued. I've got a pic of a visiting senior Polish officer in Afghanistan wearing the experimental digital desert. I'm sure there's more than that!
I'm definitely looking forward to knowing more about this uniform! First impression was a small version of Finnish desert, but then it looked more Flecktarn like. Guess it's somewhat of a combo?

Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
@JD, the uniforms also must be chairborne proofed!

Yup, gotta make sure the seat has enough reinforcement and the cloth is sufficiently resistant to coffee spills and dustings of powder from pastries

Re: New bulgarian desert uniform
my latest insider info from a colonel of the Bulgarian forces is that it is one of some new designs currently tested / evaluation purposes by a smaller group of soldiers, mainly (amongst the bigger size officers) with the 68 Special Brigade. There is a Bulgarian textile producer making a lot of different camouflage patterns, some of them are in German Flecktarn styles (desert or green) or some kind of digi versions of those patterns. There is not much more available in terms of official picture materials and/or statements about it. So it is to be seen if any of those tested patterns will go beyond eval state at all.
I will follow up here as soon as there is more info available.
