Re: A few helmets
Unfortunately the UN painted M51 on the right of second picture has Belgian liner (grey plastic) but some of the suspension parts where missing and I am temporarily using some US parts to complete but I am not proud of this liner so I left that out of the Photo.....
the Brodie without the net has a tiny suspension, I am nowhere near being able to get it on my head, but it seems to fit many kids who turn up at shows, really cannot believe any Belgian Soldiers would have had a head that small!

Re: A few helmets
Is it UN paint, or just another shade of air force blue?

Re: A few helmets
The Matt pastel Blue helmet on the left is definitely Air Force. (and is the only colour on the shell.)Wolverine wrote:Is it UN paint, or just another shade of air force blue?
The one I believe to be UN is paint applied over and earlier Olive green paint. I was told it was NATO, and the fact that it is a repaint makes me think this was a hurried slap on to be ready for a UN deployment, This paint is semi-gloss where the BRAF one is as I said Matt.
The BRAF M51 has a matching colour Liner, The one I believe to be Un has a green liner to match the inside of the helmet.

Re: A few helmets
Yes, if it is clearly painted over green, then it would most likely be UN paint.
Air force helmets, especially late production ones from VDN or LS, are often stamped with the air force tall/broad arrow on the the inside front rim.

Re: A few helmets
It appears to be an army shell, little doubt.
