Alpenflage backpacks

I had a bag and then I bought a second one and I saw that it is not the same, it's a variant. There are many differences :

Interesting! It looks like the primary difference is the one on the right is overall larger than the one on the left. Correct? Maybe these came in different sizes because they are integrated with the jackets? Now that I think about it that does seem possible. Nations have different sized hoods for uniforms based on size, therefore different sizes for the packs does make sense.

The only variations I was aware of before today is the early type is made out of canvas (as was the uniform) while the others are made out of a cotton twill.
