Lizard camo winter jacket Empty Lizard camo winter jacket

Post by austromunga Sat Oct 07, 2017 7:31 am

Hi all picked up this interesting Lizard camo fleece lined jacket the other day.. I initially thought commercial. Due to the only tag being... Large Long (no makers label can be found!!)... but it has some strange features in that the sleeves have an odd pointed protrusion (see pics) which can be velcroed back to a (normal type sleeve!!??) the main zipper is a Wico one and the hood concealment zipper YKK it has chrome/nickel plated poppers for the pockets and storm flap... there is a Velcro neck strap..which is too long to work!!! the fleece liner is permanently stitched in, and has arm liners in satin like material. The hood is attached via "T" shirt jersey fabric??.. and the compartment in the collar has not been closed (allowing the hood to fall down between the liner and jacket!!??)...
I think I saw a photo once in the Serbian/Yugo section and the jacket there was very similar looking!!??? any thoughts people????

Nice coat! I think this stuff shows up in the UK because the UK has one of the largest and most regular forces on Cyprus.

Funny... Tibor was just asking me about the same sleeve design on an experimental Slovak coat. This is a standard feature of the famous US M65 coat and its successors. I don't know what the official purpose of the flaps are, but I think they are designed to minimize snow/rain getting down the sleeves.

Thanks for the info Steve ..... funny how often stuff on military attire is designed for a specific purpose and added... often at great expense..only for some reason to be no longer required ...then.... that particular reason is lost or forgotten.....it leads to some real mystery 's for serving troops!!! Let alone us collectors!!!
