We already have TYR outer jackets and liners in MC replacing the Tan Fleece and MCU Combat Smock. Only on a replacement basis at this stage so there are guys wearing MCU uniform with MC jackets.

The cut is a jump back to the style of the last type of DPM's that we were using in 2013. Hopefully they don't use the Treado brand materiel that the MCU is currently made of which was heavy and not very breathable especially in tropical environments.

Bit regressive though isn't it? The new uniform ditches the sleeve pockets that are the norm on most Military uniforms along with the chest pockets that could be opened whilst wearing body armour.

No point going for a "New" uniform with "Old" features more suited to Barrack dress.

Yeah the SMA forum was lit up with those comments, mainly by me! Apparently you cant access the pockets from the side when wearing BA and load bearing gear, also the arm pockets are unpopular.

It has been stated that the images showing a Corps belt and shirt tucked in is a form of garrison dress and a operational set to be fielded as well, Im guessing a UBA type shirt. The images so far ask more questions than they answer.

SMA Forum as in the SMA doing a townhall or is there an online forum I haven't seen yet?

Does the NZ Army have an unofficial Forum like ARRSE or Irish Military Online where troops post about every thing they can think of?

Its an Internal Sgt Major Army blog you can only access through work. Pretty vanilla and no usual blog bollocks. Nothing as worth while as FYB or Arrse running down here. What I have seen is just a bunch of Pte-LCPLs bitching about bollocks and not even worth looking at, nothing that you would rate as constructive.

Always thought that the MCCU wasn't a good choice. Far to bright colored. Almost looked like a solid khaki color uniform at distance.

Anybody any news on where the NZDF is with this project at the moment.Has the Covid outbreak pushed everything to the back burner?
