I just came across this beauty.
I always thought that there were only four variants of the 1959 pattern Denison smock. I have since been corrected to 5 and now discovered a proposed/trial version from GDS. Garment Development Section pre SCRDE
Interesting camouflage. More reminiscent of WW2 than the post war and first variant of the 1959 pattern.

Theo’s collection (complete set) of 1959 patterns followed by mine. My collection starts with a second variant, DPM and MTP

Very little beats a classic Denni... even saw one in use in Ukraine! That's a lovely assortment.

The first smock (L) is a size 8 next to a size 1 or 2. The original WW2 smocks were designed to be worn over webbing. Not sure how long it lasted, but it didn’t.

In the 60’s fashion took its toll and the style was to have shorter, closer fitting smocks. Many were tailored for a bespoke fit.

The 70’s Denison is also a size 8 but is shorter. The DPM and MTP are 180/120’s and are way smaller than both my Size 8 Denisons.

Roll on 50 years, and only very young children will fit in a size 1, smock.
