"Children of Men" Digital Camouflage Empty "Children of Men" Digital Camouflage

    Post by Camo_fiend Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:31 pm

I recently re-watched the movie Children of Men, and really liked the camouflage the "future" British Army soldiers were wearing at the end battle scene. It's been called "digital DPM", but any searches for that yield Viper brand of digital DPM. About the only place I've seen the actual pattern has been an online prop store.

Has anyone ever seen them elsewhere, on eBay, etc? Or does anyone by chance have some in their collection and have it as an item they may consider letting go?

If you've any information or can point me in the right direction, thanks in advance.

    Cheers

Years ago I found a company in the UK selling the complete kit, including the field gear and helmet, for something 300 GBP. Seems like thats the same place you found it for sale? Too expensive for me even though I really, really wanted one. I don't collect non-military camo so it was just too much to spend on something not central to my collection.

now this brings up the topic about the camouflage seen in Alien 2 worn by the marines. that was some interesting camo, looked a bit like Polish camo.

Hmm why don't we start new section for Hollywood camouflages? So that way we could talk about camo's being used in movies.

I found it on the Prop Store of London's website, and while it's no longer 300GBP, it's still too expensive to justify purchasing at this time. I'd really like to have a set, though. Maybe some time down the road, but not right now.

The price of that set is lower now, but it's probably lower in part because it doesn't come with the full kit like the one I saw had with it.

There's lots of crazy-awesome military-patterned camouflage items on the Propstore of London's website. How many are actually legit, I am not sure. lol!
But I do know many are based off (or are modified forms of) existing camo patterns. For example, a set of "futuristic" soldier camouflage used in one of the Terminator movies is a German snow camo over-parka (with the little greenish splotches) that has been dyed a shade of grayish-purple. Neat usage of existing resources, I think.

I saw the German pattern also, and thought it was pretty cool.

Speaking of Hollywood camouflages, what pattern was used by James Cameron in Avatar? It looks a lot like some sort of HyperStealth pattern... is it possible someone with the kind of budget a Hollywood director of that calibre has, a private contract for a custom uniform could be obtained?

This is a massive necro post -- 3 years later and I still haven't found a set. The last set at Propstore of London slipped through my fingers last year.

Does anyone have any kind of lead on this stuff anymore? I fear that any sets out there have probably been bought up or forgotten in a warehouse somewhere.
