Hello,
My grandfather was in the Navy during WWII. He was a tail gunner on an SBD. Now, he's 86, and he still likes to talk about island hopping. Well, I've never seen any pictures from wartime of him or his duty, but alas, my grandmother handed me a box on Sunday of family pictures, and she said, take whatever you want. I got to dugging, and amongst pictures of people in uniform I never knew, I found these. I hope y'all like them. The first picture is my grandfather and my grandmother when they were dating in WWII. Notice the awards, American Campaign, PTO with 4 campaign stars, and Phillipine liberation with one campaign star.
OK, next up, a set of pictures from the PTO. He id'ed all of the places except for two in the pictures. From top: UGI in the Solomans, Sammara near Leyte, Leyte, and the vertical ones are unidentified. He said the first one was an indigenous fighter. Both were in the Phillipines though I do believe. So, enjoy! Thanks.
