They look like Italian shelter halves to me , the first guy closest to the camera is the dead giveaway , the pattern goes from the top all the way to the bottom , identical to the early Italian Shleter half/Poncho.

    Juan-Jose,

I think I have seen some of these for sale before. They are a regular tan colored shelter half with hand printed green and brown-green shapes on them. The printing quality is very poor. The "junk" dealer in Lleida had them advertised for several years, but I did not trust his description. I do not see him offering these for sale now, so perhaps he sold them.

Sorry I can not help more!

    Thanks everybody.

I am not really interested in adquiring any zeltbahn of this model, just wanna identify where they came from. Civil war was caotic in all senses including equipment. Everybody used everything from everywhere.

If design looks like italian I fall in doubt because fascist italian army helped nationalist (Franco) side, and this friend of mine, a good historician has told me this photo belongs to republican fighters. Quite difficult now, even there is the possibility those men wore captured equipment or simply they are not republicans or even why not they where comunist italians...who knows.

Thanks everybody any new knowledge about this patters will be quite well accepted.

here is a link showing exactly what it is :

Remember the Italians were the first to produce these camo items in the late 20's , no one else was doing it , then the Germans came along and started with the Splinter zelt , they are Italian , how they got there and why is another question .

With a quick Google search I found the most likely way these got there , along with ither Italian equipment:

Hi again, first of all, thanks everibody who helped me in this post whith any suggestion, information or related links.

After translating your comments to this friend of mine, good historician and wonderful military man I got this answer (I translate it into Englisg) because merit of identification is yours and I thinh I ought to share it with those who spent their times and knowledges. (Just put the most important)

"....about what you have told me about this photo it´s then more than probably those zeltbahns are captured equipment in Guadalajara battlefield, so probably members of the photo might be from Garibaldi Batallion of XII International Brigade. During that fight in March 1937, whether was awful, so probably the use of that equipment.

Regular italian privates used to wear helmet model M-33 and republican units Adrian helmet, but wool hats were in regimental use in Republican Army, even middle man in photo looks like wearing a employement distinctive for cabo (troop) in the hat in model used in republican army, being not any uniformity identification could may think they belong to Nationalist army. Also the rifle the use look like mosin nagant....."

Thanks in the name of we both.

    Cheers
