Re: TAZ90
Very nice, Philip! This has been one of the harder-to-get patterns for me as well. I have come close several times, but have always missed out.

Re: TAZ90
Does this stuff ever pop up on eBay from time to time? I haven't seen any lately; but then again I haven't really looked too hard for it in awhile.

Re: TAZ90
Ooo! I somehow missed Philip's post showing a more updated TAZ90 shirt! I haven't seen one that uses velcro yet.
Here's my newly arrived 1991/92 production shirt. Note the similar features to Philip's cold weather jacket.
So it seems somewhere around 1994 or 1995 they modified the uniform to use velcro rank, branch of service, name, and unit badges. Very interesting! Hopefully I don't have to wait another 20 years before I have this "new" type
My TAZ 90 collection now consists of shirt, trousers, cold weather jacket, and hat.

Re: TAZ90
Nice early TAZ90 field shirt Gilles. They Swiss Army moved to Velcro-backed insignia and patches in 1995. But I've been reading some documents on personal equipment in the modern Swiss Army and it appears they distinguish 3 different models of the TAZ90 system, I'm still trying to find any proof of this third uniform variant.

Re: TAZ90
Three different ones? Hmmm... that's news to me. Like you, I'm only aware of two. And coincidentally I've got a badged velcro variant on it's way to me soon. Yippie! Personally I like the look of the metal, though it's easy to see why it was dropped. Sooooo many ways to catch on things!

Re: TAZ90
I'm sorry, I re-read these documents and I misinterpreted the three different components of the TAZ90 for different cuts. It doesn't appear the Swiss make any official distinction. The three types of uniform that make up the TAZ90 system are the personal, work and dress uniforms, they refer to these as "A", "B" and "C" types respectively.

Re: TAZ90
heh... I almost asked you to double check to see if that's what you saw. I have a large poster, made by the Swiss Army, which shows all the official uniforms and names them. Though it is from the early 1990s.
It would be unusual for the Swiss to re-designate a uniform simply because of a minor change. In fact, few nations re-designate uniforms for "tweaks". Which is obviously frustrating for us who are interested in "tweaks"

Re: TAZ90
Philip, out of curiosity, does your field shirt have a zipper in every sleeve near the cuffs?

Re: TAZ90
I don't think the cut of the uniform changed any, just how badging is dealt with.

Re: TAZ90
Love that Swiss TAZ 90 camo !
Got a set heading to me as we speak
Does anyone have an idea of what the new Swiss rucksack looks like ? They moved from the salt and pepper on to the same design in rubberized fabric (one i would like to get....) and if the photos i've seen aer correct, they now have a rucksack more like a modern civvy climbing rucksack with side tensioning straps etc.

Re: TAZ90
I just noticed Gilles' side by side comparison. Very interesting. Gilles, which jacket is on the left, which is on the right? There are definite differences. Less streaks on the left example. Also, there is a part of the pattern that has been shortened vertically by about 3-4cm. Odd!
