Nice vest, Gary!
How common are the newer-issue vests in this pattern with the plate pockets on the front and the rear over in the UK?

To be honest I have idea of it's age,I've had it a while, the ballistic rating is a mystery too....this has a plate carrier in the rear, but the front has no pockets at all...(I retrofitted some myself) I have no idea why it would be this way...very odd,
I believe these types are only protected against frag....
thanks for looking

Hi Ben.
Very common, there's ton's on ebay....and my local surplus sells 'em for £65,in Desert DPM, top of the range stuff I suppose...which is too rich for my blood...I paid £5 for this one....as it was lying in the bottom of a bin......

Re: Brit armored vest
I have one on display (just a cover) that I filled with camping mat foam that I cut to fit inside -- it looks and fills out just like the kevlar, but the only investment was the outer cover.
I too am a bin-diver, for the cheap deals.

Ben.
I've seen yours....and nicked your idea for the camping mat insert....Ideal for paint balling, and add's a bit of cushioning when I jump about, trying to dodge the incoming shots....
