NZ Swandri & webbing c.1990

NZDF issued swandri 1989-2000, sweat rag and standard issue belt order - pistol belt, 2 x nylon 30 rnd M16/Steyr pouches, 2 x waterbottle pouches, buttpack, suspenders, 1st Field dressing/compass pouch, toggle rope. Right up to the issue of DPM webbing US 1956 Vietnam era and US LBE/ALICE web gear was worn side by side and by the mid 90's cheap korean made copy's were issued aswell. The issued Swandri was the result of most kiwi soldiers habit of wearing the famous green private purchase civilian Swandri but the army made the issued version far too bulky. This is what the NZ cold war infantryman would have looked like early 90's if the balloon went up

If this is the 'Swandri' what is the long version with the hood?

This is not a proper swandri, these were made of wool but from a diiferent manufacturer, but the common term used was "swannie"or swandri, now the "Swandri" was the jacket made by swandri and worn by farmers,forestry workers,bushmen and soldiers who brought them in the 70's & 80's, back then and still to this day dress regs are very loose when in the field but when the army issued its version instead of it being the slimline lightweight pullover civilian version in DPM they added pockets and epaulettes and extra material here and there and ruined it.

Here it is i had one but preferred dpm jackets or my M65 jacket
