Pattern 1990 DPM Empty Pattern 1990 DPM

Post by koalorka Wed Oct 22, 2014 11:48 pm

I'm trying to find more information on the Pattern 1990 DPM uniforms which seem to have been largely forgotten and quickly phased out by the CS95 system.

The uniform seems to be an evolution of the P85, with better fabrics, zippers and larger buttons, as well as the two zippered chest pouches.

What was the incentive behind this uniform? How widely was it circulated?

This is what is called P94. Tons of this stuff was made and quickly abandoned. For a while it was very easy to get because it was dumped onto the market all at once. I had probably 10 sets at one point. Lots of color variations.

I don't remember the designations for the earlier types. I think it went something like P84, P86, and P90. Someone will jump in and help out Smile The only difference I remember is that the P84 has big floppy pockets, the next one (P86?) had fairly standard pleated pockets, and I don't remember what they changed after that. Arm pocket or something? Whatever it was, it was fairly minor.

It definitely has a better feel to it than the low quality P84 gear. It's like they reverted back to the P68 standard in materials and manufacturing.

But in the end I guess Gore-Tex and rip-stop prevailed.
