Actually, not just German GSG9 worn them. Those boots are popular among SF, PJ, and Delta Force. They were seen being worn during Operation Gothic Serpent (Black Hawk Down) by Delta.

This appears to be a nice cross between boot and sneaker. Interesting tread!

One reason why I don't get all excited about special forces type stuff is that so much of it is private purchase. If you do a search on "GSG9" or "KSK" on German eBay you'll find enough things for sale to max out a brand new credit card Smile

If I remember, isn't the model name of the boots "GSG9"?

I have seen these in use with Deltas and GSG9 but don't have any photos of them used by PJs or SAS. Does anyone have any photos of these?

The Model is GSG9,I think these are the MK1's,interestingly these soles are the same as late 80's X- trainers.

If you want to read a review on these boots..check out "Arrse" Ben , to get a truly British slant on your boots. Laughing

On the inside of the tongue of the boots should be a manufacturers tag. Could you tell me where they were made and what the date of manufacture is? Some of the boots weren't made in Germany. Some were made in Poland and other places. Thanks!

Date of manufacture is May, 2000.

Apart from the size chart, the tag on the tongue says:

    Made in Germany
    FTY No. SEF502
    ART No. 7 1153
    05/00

Looks like May 2000 production. Note that there would be a BW control number if this was procured by the German government. Not surprisingly there is apparently no such contract number. I wouldn't expect there to be one, actually. Which gets back to my aversion to purchasing special forces gear unless it's cheap Very Happy

$30 is a STEAL on those boots. If you were to sell those on the internet, you could get a quite a bit more than that. Very Happy

I have several pair of these boots and the earliest pair I have are from early 1993 (none of mine are for sale). Interestingly enough, a lot of my pairs also have a red type sand/dirt on the bottom.

BTW, when BW boots are put out onto the surplus market two holes are punched through either the tongue or somewhere along the top edge. Obviously if the items are private purchase or "misplaced" then these holes won't exist. But if you do see this on a pair of boots, then it's a pretty good indication they are genuine BW issue. I'm not sure they still do this or not.

BGS doesn't use a similar system from what I've seen.
