Repro German Helmet Cover Empty Repro German Helmet Cover

Post by tenewel Sun Jul 31, 2011 10:02 am

I received this reproduction WWII German reversable camo helmet cover in 90 or 91 when I was stationed in Germany. Does anyone have any information on it or know the approximate value? Or do I just have a neatly colored handkerchief?

    Thank you in advance.

Those can go for somewhere between 20-30 I think based on the quality. Look around eBay for a bit there are a few of that nature and you can get a good estimate.

Didnt the SS covers come with the rocker clips to attach to the helmet and not a drwastring like the Army version?

Well now you have. The early repros were often times made with the draw string. May still be some made, but I wouldn't think they would sell.

Even repro WW2 helmet covers are made of 3 cloth panels. This one appears to have 6 and seems to be custom made for some type of helmet with M1 shape. France in the early times of Indochina war used german fabric to equip their reborn army so it wouldn't suprise me if this would be the case. Shirts/jackets and trousers are documented so could it be possible they made helmet covers!? Suspect

The French did indeed make helmet covers for their M51 OTAN helmets out of SS camo and with the string

    Hi parafal

Nice to see that i wasn't so far from truth. Liked to see that photo. Now we know that were made helmet covers also Wink

Yours is quite different in construction than the one tenewel shows. Interesting the stitch's on it. Are they vertical fooliage inserts or stitch's from loops in the fall side?

    Best regards

Yes , there are loops on the Fall side , which is kinda weird.
