Re: camouflage
VERY nice. I have one of these and have been trying to get the correct rank and name tapes for it. They have to be tan around the edges and black thread. I only have the current issue which is tan around the edges and copper thread. I have unit badges already.

Early 1990’s Latvian Border Guard Winter Camo Uniform
The exterior of the uniform is made of a water resistant, rubberized fabric. The interior of the pants and jacket are down filled and are lined with a soft, pink colored fabric. The uniform appears to be made to protect the wearer in extremely cold environments.

Re: camouflage
Erick, this is a very interesting set!
Especially the zipper-closed pocket on the left sleeve, and the unusual suspenders.
Are there any more uniforms from this period that have these features?
Kind Regards,
Kolja

Re: camouflage
Thanks Steve. The winter uniforms are nice but they take-up a lot of storage room!
Kolja, this is the only uniform that I have seen with this construction. The down lining of the jacket is really nice.
Thanks,
Erick

Re: camouflage
I thought some of you would find this interesting. There was apparently a series of NBS prototypes that featured the rough geographic shape of Latvia pixelated into the print:

Re: camouflage
Yup, there are a couple different types of early LATPAT out there. The one with the Latvia print on it was the one their Ministry of Defense promoted, so it is the earliest type. And I know how much that one you have a picture of is going for.... VERY expensive.

Re: camouflage
Very early prototype for the Ministry of the Interior:
Dated 1991 and still carries the Russian language OTK acceptance stamps. Below is the only photo I could find that would show it in service, it's not very clear sadly:

Here is another uniform which uses the same pattern, albeit in a much different format:

The labels indicated a date of 1991 and Russian origin:

Re: camouflage
The design of the uniform itself is consistent with two common uses:
1. Work uniform
2. Security forces (private or public)
Whatever it is, great that you go the original paper tags with it. 1991 is waaaaaaay early.

Cap in colors reversed from the jacket
The fabric of the jacket is thin as cigarette paper, cap is in heavy cotton

Re: camouflage
Which nation did you find yours Gilles? This may shed some light on the mystery. Mine came from a seller in Germany.
And the uniform in the bottom two photos is different, 3-colour TTsKO.
