I have a late Soviet pistol holster and tried to fit a repro Makarov into it. Cannot close the top. I know you can stretch a bit with just wax paper but this is more than a little tight. I have heard conflicting info about using water as an assist. Any tips?

Put the holster in a bucket of water, overnight at least. Grease up the pistol, put it in a couple of plastic bags. Push it into soaking wet/soft holster. Mouldit with your fingers. Leave until almost dry, remove pistol, let it dry away from any source of heat, finally use a good quality leather dressing. Simples!
