Desert Osprey GPS Antenna Pouch - uncommon?

my most recent ebay find, had never seen one before so naturally had to have it. my questions to you: Are the string and eyelets for attachment to kit or for the securing of the antenna, and the same with the velcro really, the large strip of hooks on the back, is it for sticking to kit?
