72 pattern Bergen which was later taken into service as the GS Bergen and also the larger SAS Bergen.

This is im sure slightly smaller than the GS bergen and has the tie closures of the SAS bergen.

I am wondering if this bergen ever had the Butyl Nylon coating as i have seen various items with patches of worn/missing Butyl material but this bergen has no Butyl material coating at all just the thin nylon material????

I use to use one exactly the same as that with the plastic clips on the side pouches, one broke so I exchanged it for the metal type with the strap that goes through it, the same as on the SAS Bergan I still have it too

I recently received a trials one as a surprise extra when I ordered two grade 2 GS rucks sans frames and straps from a surplus site.

It appears to have the butyl layer, although a very thin layer or very worn one at that in comparison to my GS and SAS rucks.

At some point in its life the original plastic shovel strap and side pouch buckles have been replaced with the GS ones (sewn on by hand from the looks of it, and not very well) and an improvised cam scheme painted on.

On a side note to my previous, does anybody know where I could source the plastic clip closures that would've originally been on the side pockets and the plastic buckle style e-tool strap?
