The 1st cover was actually used from WW2 trhu Korea and into early Vietnam. It wasn't a marine thing, but was issued to all branches in tropical environments. Usually, the mosquito net was cut down and tucked and just the camo cover used. In WW2, the marines had a camo cover already before this type was produced. Marine helmet covers do not have the net and are of HBT material. Most the ones like this on the market are Korean War era. This one looks cut down a bit and looks to have had the lower ties removed.. Nice one still in my opinion.
