    Dave

Corr a full set would be nice mmmmmm

This was sold to me from a member of 3 para air assault who I got the badged smock from. The guy removed his DZ and wings and left his desert colour union and air assault on ?

Why desert subdued sand and black ?

Anyways I'm going to replace the missing patches and restore it as glue is left on the arm and looks naff.

I have a mate who offered me two of the smock for peanuts but i refused as i personally can't stand teh camo pattern and only collect what pleases my eye rather than any particular theme.

The shirt and trousers are up for grabs for the right trade ....... I'll see if i can find them and post photos.

    Everything Owen Very Happy

    Hand warmer pockets
Under arm vent zips like the US goretex parkas
The American football shirt material mesh liner
    Mesh bottomed pockets
    Compass pocket
Non wired hood which means its not an arctic issue
Material feels a bit funny almost impregnated with something almost waterproofed feel.

I think the mk1 was same but with a full mesh rear.

I have found faults , the jackets Velcro keeps sticking to the mesh liner making it a nightmare to put on at times.

Most of these features now found on the new Multicam mk2 PCS smocks

Like Dave said , this is special forces only issue, kinda share many features as that mystery tiger set on the other forum.

Thats what I seen with the mesh !
Great idea , but I wonder if it would stand up to a couple of weeks abuse.
    Love pit zips !
Perfect for keeping the core down , looks like some thought went into this one !

They are a good design but suffered from the fact that they make SF look like everyone else rather than 'Speshul' in an assortment of kit from various nations ! Hence they weren't worn by those for whom it was designed but very popular with those who were supposed to look 'normal' like SFSG, Pathfinders and Para Regt.

I've started to restore this, the black on sand para wings and 3 para DZ are on order.

I've also sorted out the original owners poor excuse for sewing on the remaining patches. The para smock he sent me was all machine sewn but this smock was hand done. I moved the patches around so they are more square to each other and to the jacket as they were on the p1ss real bad. He may have been a tough old UKSF para but he couldn't sew for sh1t !

I read somewhere that on this sort of smock various survival aids were added such as wire hidden in seams and a compass in one of the buttons. Or maybe that was just in one in particular. Cannot find the link now.

Yeah I've seen a few with buttons on the compass pocket. I guess it could be stages of the evolution on the smock. I have seen some with white tags , green tags so extra buttons will be possible.

My smock has a button hole in the compass pocket but I'm guessing to loop the string through you get on a compass. The early ones may have had a button and it was rmoved as it was in the way ?

    Cheers Dave.

I was a little confused with odd choice of desert tan badges but I kinda worked it out.

The guy acquired or was issued this smock either for trials or to use out in the stan. The rank and DZ would be easy to get and come in the colours shown even if you were in the desert, where as the para wings, 16th air and union would be in theatre camo.

Looks odd but if that's all on off then you have to use.
