Not really, but it's incredibly rare. I only have seen about 5 items in this pattern so far.

Re: experimental desert marpat
Thanks , I have been trying to find some pictures but as you said there seems to be only a handful of these pieces in the hands of collectors , it would be nice to see pics of this being used in the trials .

Re: experimental desert marpat
Found this on an auction from 2011,I dont know how true this is , but if there were only 300 sets made , its a pretty rare bird :
This is an experimental USMC Desert pattern cover. When the current MarPat utilities were under development, two experimental uniform patterns were produced and fielded to three infantry companies for testing. Half the uniforms were a green woodland pattern, half desert. Only about 300 uniforms of each pattern were produced. The uniforms were given to the individual Marines to keep, and were put through the paces in spades!

Re: experimental desert marpat
300 is a very small number indeed! I have the experimental temperate set and hat. So far it's the only one I've seen available. I got it many years ago before people knew to look for it.

Re: experimental desert marpat
It has the terry cloth on the front , but yes I will take a pic for you Philip , the 8 point cover is more interesting as it has notes from the Marine or graffiti , they are both worn and washed salty pieces !!!
