Did the British ever use metal beret badges?

    Know Australia and NZ did.

The British issued an officers badge of 2 part silver and gilt construction with 2 loop lugs for the No1 dress cap that was issued to 21 SAS for the Queens coronation in 1953 I dont know how long this badge lasted and Im not sure if there was an OR's version of that badge, Correct me if im wrong but I don't think the NZ SAS has ever used a metal badge but a bullion embroidered badge for officers and a cotton version for Or's , On the other hand the Australian SAS has only ever used a metal badge and the Rhodesian SAS did use a metal badge in the 60's and 70's and then went to using the bullion embroidered badge for officers and cotton embroidered badge for OR's all of the fabric badges are on dark navy blue fabric that is almost black.

As Far as I know the Kiwi SAS have allways used the cloth badges I seam to rember that the NZ SAS were the last unit to go from the maroon beret to the sand Officaly designated donkey brown no crap. there may have been some Aussies there they have only ever worn a metal cap badge.

    SASR use bi-metal badges.

This could be a collar dog though ....... difficult to see the size.
