1 Para Bn Metal Badge

Hi Guys
I was given this badge by a friend of mine who served with 1 Para during the bush war.
It was given to him by a family friend who also served with 1 Para, before my friends time.
So it should be pretty old.

Can anyone confirm that this was the first type of 1 Para barret badge before the cloth type?
I cant find any info regarding this item.

I heard that this was a prototype badge that was trialed and rejected in favour of the cloth version because it was too heavy take a look here there is one for sale

This badge is a complete fantasy. It was never worn at all and was likely to have been commissioned by a person who makes many different so called "commemoration badges". (My knowledge is based on having served in the SA army for 26 years.)
