Flew into and over Taji alot, especially on my last deployment. My old unit is there right now, if I had stayed in I'd be over there right now too. I would love to see some of the pix you have from the boneyard(s).

When I get back to the land of real internet, I will gladly do so.

Dude! I was stationed at Al Asad Airbase in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  I was the first US Army presence there.  We took over for some Aussie SAS or something.  They had this crazy six wheel range rover.  They were all clad in duck hunter camp, had AUGs and M4s and crazy beards.  Al Asad was built by the Yugoslavians for Saddam in the 1980s.  We had got there right after the Iraqi Air Force had left.  There was still food on the tables for fucks sake!  I still have some uniforms like a crude DPM Para smock remake, blue '58 pattern webbing made in Iraq, and plastic M1 type helmets that look like US helmet liners.  While we were there, we made parking stalls for our humvees out of discarded Iraqi Air Force fuel drop tanks.

it would have been either SASR or 4RAR(CDO)the commandos, SASR took the base and the commandos coming in as reinforcements, the 6 wheeled land rover are called LRPV long range patrol vehicle, and 4RAR are now called 2CDO
