    Pack itself is WW2 but am I correct in thinking the markings are Post War?

    Yes. Wikipedia indicates 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales) amalgamated on 11 Sept 1960.

    Been told that the trooper probably due to his service number enlisted between 1966 and 1969.
