Re: my latest pickups
No.. those are late 90's. we wore black jungle boots, green jungle boots, a handful of desert boots(all private purchase), or the issue leather ones. I'll look for mine. I had a pair of matterhorn desert boots i bought and a pair of off brand ones. I got the matterhorns after i came home from Desert Storm, the others I got before I went. Used both pair of those and my black jungles in Somolia. By then tho, some desert boots were starting to show up in the supply system, but still not everyone got em.saltefanden wrote:Yum!!

Re: my latest pickups
Cheers for that nugget of info, Fins!
And I would love to see a pair of your old, period boots!
Oh and thunderchild; I don't know what it is about the combination of a 6-colour desert uniform and OD loadbearing gear, belts or even nametags. It's just... sexy

Re: my latest pickups
No worries, I was in no shape or form questioning the 'legality' of the boots shown; I merely had not seen them before, and thankfully Fins set me straight on their 'vintage'
Thank you for sharing!

Great pick up's TC, I have a similar pair of boots to yours, fantastic additions.
Here's a picture of Marines of C Co, 3rd Tank Bn, 1st Marine Div, assigned to Task Force Ripper, try on newly-issued Desert Boots during Operation Desert Storm, 19 Feb 1991.

Re: my latest pickups
No worries TC, maybe Marines got lucky, as for the Army units it would appear they had to wait, and wait and waitthunderchild wrote:many thanks for this photograph gary ,so some divisions did get hold of the desert boots during gw1 ,very interesting ,thanks tc
