Re: 3 Color DBDU
The 1990 sets do seem to have been a USAF issue at first. I wonder it was done this way to stop confusion on the front line within soldiers ?

It would appear to the case that USAF were issued this camo 1st, I can only assume that your theory is correct,as I can see no other reason for it,thanks for looking Mate!

Double yes, with of course the exception of my hunch that even though the USMC is dated gulf war, it may well have been issued for Somalia?????

I can't find any photos as such of actual 3 colour deserts at the time period other than one. There is a photo where storming Norman shakes the hands of SAS members dressed in 6 colour choc chips and some sort of 3 colour desert hooded smock.
I remember on tv back in 1990/1 on the news you'd see ops rooms where Americans were dressed in choc chips, woodlands and just one or two wearing the new 3 colours.

Can't 100% tell but it looks like a goretex style one. It's not the adventure tech reversible or we would see the night desert green hood. Maybe Norman was fielding some sort of prototype which wouldn't be uncommon.

Re: 3 Color DBDU
Yep. I remember seeing 3 color used during briefings on TV, too. Seemed like only US officers had them at first, but that isn't too strange. First time I saw the blue NWU was on a Navy Commander at the Pentagon.
