That is a very nice early canteen - my earliest ABL canteens are dated 1950. Oddly, the cups and carriers are rather common over here in Canada, but I had to go all the way to Belgium to find the canteens.

Just got another canteen and cover(no mug) and the canteen this time is heavily embossed(reverse,from the inside) with ABL 1949 and an interesting maker,HONDA.
