Re: Australian bush hat
Dated 1996. Is it real military issue?

Re: Australian bush hat
Is there a reason you posted ten times on the same subject in two different threads? These could have been consolidated into one post.

Re: Australian bush hat
Yep it is genuine issue, however this is not what we call the "bush hat" but it's rather the Wide Brim Boonie type hat that was/is commonly worn by non infantry types. This hat was vastly unpopular because it looked silly (brim too wide) and the brim drooped down over eyes when wet, which is especially annoying when in a prone position. This led to some later models having plastic wire in the brims to keep it stiff. The hat came out as a response to OHS/WHS policies on work clothing in the 1990s in regards to sun protection. The real "bush hat" is the JG ones worn in Vietnam and 1980s, and the DPCU ones from the early 1990s, which were then discontinued until reintroduced in the late 2000s. They were reintroduced because everyone was just chopping the brims off the so called "numpty hats". When reintroduced, it now has an integral neck flap as mitigation for sun protection, WHS/OHS arse covering I guess... but everyone chops it out anyway because it just gets in the way...

Re: Australian bush hat
Do you mind if I add your photos to the database - I don't have an example in the database from 1996? Let me know if ok...

Do you have a better photo of the date side of the tag? Would be a bit better to see.
Thanks for letting me add it to the database!
Do you have a DPCU uniform? If you are after one I can see if I have one that youre after..

Re: Australian bush hat
ha yep you wouldn't be seen dead in the "POG" hats(the stiff brim ones) all the combat corps cut smaller them straight away.

Martin, does this label look legit. It says " warm wash" not "drip dry machine washable" like the ones on your site.
