Australian bush hat from the vietnam era. Marking on the sweatband are Dunkerley Ltd. "AKUBRA" 1963. I've got a WW2 badge on the side. I have a proper one, but can't find it at the moment. Wish I had a puggaree for it.

Strictly speaking we don't call this a 'bush hat' - either a 'slouch hat' or 'KFF' (for 'Hat - Khaki Fur Felt' - its Q designation). It is not generally a field hat although in the mid-80's they were authorised for field wear for a number of years due to fears over the 'Ozone Hole'. Previous to that they were worn in action in the Korean conflict. More recently they have been worn in Iraq but only for a one time PR patrol.

What size is it? Looks like you are also missing the chinstrap as well ....

I went off a collector's book/ price guide for the term I used.. Go figure.. one of the great reference gods is wrong yet again.. LOL this is why I stick more to the items themselves and less to the books telling what they are. You are right. I have no chinstrap either. It's a 6 7/8. One of my favorite hats.

    Fins..
