There are some markings on both tongues but not clear enough to make out.

Markings are not Canadian - possibly Australian?

They are apparently WW2 British Air Ministry(RAF) Aircrew,Brogue,Waders-used by crews on sea planes like Sunderlands etc.

Hobnails in an aircraft? Wow, I'd never have guessed. To me that seems rather dangerous for the crew and unkind to the light alloys/woods that make up such aircraft at the time.

They are bizarre to say the least but thats the explanation I have had on various other forums. Wouldnt have thought that they would be very if at all waterproof either?
