nice!! Have you done any comparison shots with US choc-chip? As I understand it the South Koreans adopted this pattern as their desert uniform for a short while as well as some gulf countries (Saudi Arabia etc.)

Allow me to complete this collection with a photo of the first early pattern of this 1990 type desert camo uniform.
This camo was given to african Tercios to test it but it was desestimated for several reasons. First of all the idea of down shirt pockets because we always used the combat belt. Second twoo inside plastic circle pieces in the collar which were ruined after washing up the uniform.
After this point the second model was offered to 3rd and 4th Tercios and never given to the other ones who tested de early model.
Look at the curiosity of top down buttom which is averall, the other ones go inside the chest clothe.
Damn English, I have to study more looool
Best regards ( Iwill puto more desert patterns in future)

Let´s try to complete the first patterns of spanish desert 1990
This is the first model of cap, with embroided emblem in black
This is the second model 2004 dated
It´s important to notice that all desert caps and bonnie hats, even used by Legion have the eagle, the ones found with Legion emblem are commercials although some legionnaires used to buy and use them. It´s usual by Spanish Legion to stich a patch with the Tercio emblem covering the eagle.
This is an example of one of those commercial ones (there are lots of models)
This is the first officialbonnie hat 1990 model (covered eagle)
The same one with greener stains without covering
2004 model in ripstop, there are different versions of this bonnie hat
I will try to post tomorrow the different models of helmet covers and "siroqueras" (head-neck scarfs I don´t know the name in English)

Now talking of "siroqueras", the name is derivated from the word "Siroco" name of a typical wind of North Africa where Legion was located.
There are several models of this siroqueras, sand, green, darkest green, desert amoeba pattern, choco chip pattern with 3 variations and even in dark blue.
Legion has used the 3 choco chip patterns, the lighter green and even the sand coloured (very little this late one).
Here is a first 1990-91 choco chip pattern. It was prepared to be used only with cap. The cap used at this time had embroided eagle in black.

An interesting thing to note is that Spanish 6 Color Desert pattern is about 80% the size of the US pattern, but otherwise identical shapes.
Cheers,

Fantastic... the pictures are now showing up for me Thanks for all the information Solideo. It is interesting that all of the boonies with embroidered Legion emblem are commercial. I've got a number of them and the quality is identical to the genuine issue boonies.
The experimental desert shirt is really interesting! That's the first time I've heard of it. Very nice! Out of all your pictures I lack only the desert experimental shirt, boots, and PECO. Maybe someday I will complete my collection

This set was very short time in use. When Spain supported Iraq war we had really not enough sets of old 1990 desert uniforms, so FECSA made quickly this one, still made in non ripstop clothe and with clips.
Next time new ripstop came with X Bandera a few months later.

This also happened with the regular Woodland (green) uniforms too, correct? I have Legion slides for the epaulets in both solid cloth and ripstop cloth. I even have a set in plastic (nylon) cloth.
Is there 6 color desert uniforms (smooth or ripstop) with Legion emblems sewn directly onto the shoulder straps? I do not know if I have seen such a uniform.

They exist, there is a lot of variations in light green Legion and camo (NATO woodland and desert). Most variations are for woodland and green ones.
They were made also in nylon.

NO, definitely NO. Embroided epaulettes were lost with early amoeba boscoso. Late ones even lost them.
ALL desert and NATO camo uniforms used by Legion had no embroided epaulettes, not any official cap or bonnie hat had Legion emblem sewn (even some commercial aones were used by active members). Only most of them sew an oval patch over the eagle but since digital camo it has been prohibited.
Good weekend
