The soldier shown wearing the non ripstoff version is from the SF "Shield Maiden" group. They specialise in Vogue type operations and are seldom seen wearing most of the uniform.

Sean,
From what I understand, and although I have seen photos of some in skimpy outfits, they are not all supermodels who run around in their skivvies..

Nice video Sal. They still look like super models running around with their faces blanked out.Nice to watch.

Re: Slant pocket M04s
I've now documented 5 different variants of the 4 pocket (two chest, two arm) uniforms. I've got them labeled as Generation 1-5, but that might not be correct. Here's what I have:
Gen 1 = smooth cloth, similar to standard uniform but in different cloth and a few unique features
Gen 2 = smooth cloth, square flapped chest pockets, slanted arm pockets
Gen 3 = ripstop cloth, pointed flapped chest pockets, straight arm pockets (made in 2006 and 2008 at least)
Gen 4 = ripstop cloth, square flapped chest pockets, straight arm pockets
Gen 5 = smooth cloth, pointed flapped chest pockets, straight arm pockets
Gen 3 and Gen 5 appear to be the same cut, just different cloth.
There is also a private purchase uniform made by TAIGA. This one has exposed Canadian style buttons for the chest pockets, which are not slanted.
What do people think of this list?

Re: Slant pocket M04s
So far, I've accumulated 8 different complete Norwegian woodland issue type uniforms and then some.
4 are ripstop and 4 are not .
Of the non ripstop type there is 1) M98, and 3) M04s. The 3 M04s each differ from one another.
One( 07 ) has the 4 usual M98 pockets with arm velcro but no arm pockets and have Canadian type buttons as does the (08) slant pocket M04 uniform.
The last of the 3 M04s is an 05 and has 2 straight chest pockets, 2 arm pockets and a small chest pocket. This one has flat conventional buttons and made of a real lightweight cotton.
I am fairly certain ripstop types are also M04s . Apart from the slant pocket type, they are all quite similar.
Not included are private purchase of which I've seen a couple and have one.
I've previously posted a photo of the Crown Price of Norway wearing a private purchase ripstop uniform with smallish exposed Canadian type pocket buttons and also another photo of an SF trooper wearing the same uniform.
Been trying to acquire one of these for some time and actually tracked down a site that sell them only to be told no sales to non Norwegians. Never say never..
At some point I can do a post of the 4 and 4 to clearly show differences.
Hope that helps

Re: Slant pocket M04s
Late to the party but found this. Seems like this uniform is an Interim one until the new Nordic Combat Uniform comes online. Official nomenclature is "M17" Pattern.

Re: Slant pocket M04s
Better late than never. Thanks for the info.
Looks to me the " M17 " is a slightly different uniform than the non ripstop uniform in my post. Collar is different, chest pockets seem smaller, additional Velcro on the arm pocket flaps and above chest pockets.
Will be interesting to see the new NCUs. Will the whole system be replicated in all 4 patterns ?

Re: Slant pocket M04s
Apparently so. Same uniform components and cut. Different national camo patterns.Notice the uniform in the first trial NCU picture above? Crye G4's. Same as the new UK Royal Marines uniform.

Re: Slant pocket M04s
Just as an aside but do any of you know if Norway issues a Combat Shirt/UBACS to it's troops? I have done a google shirt and I can only find aftermarket stuff like the NFM GARM system.
