OOO the Ranger BDU! It is probably the only BDU that is worth more money. A Ranger stuff is super rare nowadays.

    Very very cool Philip!!!!!!!!!
The reason you dont see the Jungle Expert badge on many BDUs is because the patch was no longer authorized for wear after 1986, so you'll never see on a lightweight BDU. What we use to do since we were all grads of the Jungle Expert school was to either get a brand new Lightweight top, sew the patch on wash it a bunch of times, and then remove the patch, presto, you now had a dark imprint of where the patch was. Some even would take a black sharpie and trace around it. Also I myself took a newer BDU top and had the patch sewn in the pocket, now you could see the black or dark green thread on the pocket, there were all kinds of way of getting around regulations LOL

Thanks Paul. I know about the patch. Read something about it on USMF. I also read somewhere that they sewed on the patch on the inside. Is that true?

Yep!! thats what I did, i think I still have a top around here somewhere!! I'll be sure and take a photo for ya.

when we were in panama, we had a big formation, they gave us the award, a subdued patch and a color pocket hanger for the Class A/ Class B uniform, and then told us DONT PUT THIS ON YOUR BDU's OR YOUR CLASS A???
    WTF??!!
I'll see if I can find it for ya Smile

Yea the powers who make the rules didnt like us all running around with cool badges, so they made them all unauthorized, all of RECONDO, SNIPER all the cool ones, but they kept all the lame ones, Recruiter, Drill Sgt, and the only cool one Tomb Guard. sucked!!

    oh well Smile

I served from 83 to 86 in the 7th ID(light fighters). We were authorized to wear the Jungle Expert patch. They sewed the patch on the left pocket though. All my reserch shows that to be an error. Could the gooks on Ft. Ord make such a masive sewing mistake? I still have my stuff and could send you pics. Andy
