1950's OPFOR plastic helmet and modified liner.

Liner is modified by puting a basic web system, removing teats for leather chin strap, and installing a web strap from a M24 haversack. Helmet itself is an orange thin plastic of the type once used to make haloween masks and then painted gray with OPFOR green and white logo hand painted.

Outstanding collection of M1's , all of them absolute gems. I find the OPFOR lids particularly interesting as I've never seen anything close to yours in the UK.

I hope this is the start of many more of your lid collection appearing here,it keeps this section fresh.

    Cheers Mate.

Sorry if i am being dumb but how do you attach one of these properly?

All there is is a very strong elastic around the base so if you pull it over the rim of the helmet it covers your forehead and eyes and if you dont pull it over the rim it slides up over the top of the helmet???

    Thanks

Post by nkomo Wed Jan 18, 2012 5:24 am

This is an early CGF TC-2000 helemt. According to the inner label, the date of manufacture is 5-18-2001. The pads and chin straps are the proper black color for the time it was made. The chin strap looks gray, but it is black and appears gray because of heavy usage. The inside of the helmet has an odd odor. Not exactly sure how to describe it, but to me it smells like a burnt house.

The helmet appears to have had a field modification to the rear. One screw is missing and the helmet strap is help together with a zip tie. In the past, I have seen ACH's that have had problems with the suspenion screws not wanting to grab/hold. I'm assuming this zip tie may be a quick fix for that problem.

On top of the helmet is a screw. I can see no reason for it to be there. Never seen this before. Does anyone have any clues on that?

This helmet came from an area close to where the 5th SFG is stationed. Since it is an early dated helmet and knowing the location where it came from, good chance it was used in early OEF.

I came upon this amazing piece by accident. I was running some errands with my dad one day and we just happened to stop by a local surplus shop. I walked in and saw this helmet on the counter. My mouth dropped because you don't see helmets like this everyday. I really didn't have the money for it, but knew this couldn't be left in the shop. This piece needed to be preserved for future generations.

NOW....the helmet has some amazing tribal art work on it. On the front of the helmet is a stylized skull above the word DEATH. On the left side of the helmet is a stylized sun with the words WAR and PEACE written above it on opposite sides. The back portion of the helmet has a stylized scorpion with it's stinger dripping out what appears to be poison. On the right hand side of the helmet is written C-33.

This helmet belonged to a soldier in the 30th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Battalion, 150th Armor Regiment.

The Sgt. whose name was mentioned on the helmet as being KIA, was one of five casualities the brigade suffered during their deployment to Iraq. He was killed July 27, 2004 in Baladruz, Iraq when an IED went off near his vehicle.

Got this from a former 3rd SFG soldier out of North Carolina. A tan painted PASGT helmet with airborne pad in the back. Can't make out the maker as the helmet has been used heavily over the years.

According to a source I have in the 3rd Special Forces Group, the painted PASGT's were still being used during their deployment to Afghanistan in the 2002-2003 time period.

From the same 3rd SFG soldier as the painted PASGT, is an RBR F6 that has had a tan camo paint scheme applied to the oustside. This one also has an airborne pad in the back. Interestingly enough, this helmet was made in December 1999 and has a serial number of 1449. Definitely an early F6.

I need to find a nice painted RHINO NVG mount for this one.

Does anyone have any idea why there would be two extra screws attached to both sides of the helmet?

Okay....this is an odd one. Doesn't appear to have a manufacturer that I can see and the padding is not pads, but rather a solid padding piece inside. Date of manufacture is 04-2003. I am just a sucker for painted helmets. This piece came out of Bragg as well.

OKAY.....when I saw this helmet, I had to have it. Lucky for me, the price was right. Didn't break the bank on this one. Came from a soldier who is getting ready to deploy for the 6th time! I am not sure how old this helmet is, but the camo on it is top notch. I'm thinking a soldier had a little too much time on their hands. Laughing

I've had this one for awhile, but never got around to posting it. This is a camo'd Warrior Helmet made by SDS (Speciality Defense Systems). Didn't even know it was camo'd until I looked under the ACU helmet cover! I THINK this helmet was manufactured in 2004 or 2005.

Picked this one up at a cheap price. Has had a strange NVG mount attached at one time. I am a sucker for painted helmets. This piece has CEZ on the front and A Pos. written in sharpie on the side. This helmet has a strip of velcro in the crown area which were used for pads at one time. It is made by Unicor and is dated 1989.

Ok....this one has remained a mystery for years. This was a surplus shop find at Ft. Knox in 1991. I have only seen one other of these helmets ever. The other one was sold on Ebay many years ago with a Republican Guard General's uniform grouping. Has anyone ever seen this helmet before or know what the unit marking is on the front?

This is a Iraqi Kevlar Helmet that is a copy of the US PASGT. The helmet was captured during the First Gulf War time period and was made by H.H.D. Helmet was captured by the 2nd Armored Division and is reportedly supposed to be Republican Guard.

As you can tell..this helmet has some battle damage. This is the inside of the helmet.
