Here's a Czech M53/80 from my collection, this one has seen some use and is fairly rusty and mouldy. I would hazard a guess it may well have been used by Czech forces in Iraq ( due to the sand coloured paint). Other than that I have no ideas of it's former usage.

Thanks Graham.
The only Czech unit I'm aware of that operated in the Gulf, was a chemical protection unit. Other than this I have absolutely no idea about this lid whatsoever but to fair the more mysterious the better.

My newest addition. Belgian M1 helmet and liner. This is an older liner, not the plastic one. Shell has a painted Belgian flag on the left side, liner has a decal/sticker.
Enjoy!!

Re: THE HELMET THREAD
Thats cheap with the comfort pad kit-not that long ago they were going for £150-£200.
I always put MK7s in my watch list to check their progress and prices do vary-one nice one sold for £56 with an MTP cover which im kicking myself but i WILL NOT bid until somebody can clarify 100000% that these are legal to buy
Sorry for bringing this issue up again but its quite literally a minefield regarding the buying and selling of these items.

Re: THE HELMET THREAD
Fins Loving your flight helmet collection, very colourful and individual, very cool mate.
I have never got into this genre of Lids, too pricey for me!!
The Belgium M51 is very cool,I've bought a couple of these over the years( a few I got tricked into, thinking they were US M1's)one of the best euro M1 clones out there IMHO

Hi Rich, I agree this is cheap compared to some hefty price tags, still way too expensive for me!!!
And yeah the legal bit is concerning, I have read a comment from a guy posting one in the Brit section, he claimed it was a legal trade as it were, but as with MTP, and the new PCS stuff, I'm uncomfortable

Re: THE HELMET THREAD
Ive also noticed that there are a lot more MK7s appearing on Ebay lately than say at the start of the year which helps with the prices.

Some new painted helmets I was able to pick up recently. From left to right: Painted PASGT (heavily used), painted early CGF TC-2000 MICH (thanks Dan), and a painted motorcycle helmet.

Re: THE HELMET THREAD
NOW......the painted motorcycle helmet has an interesting story. It was in a huge pile of surplus from a soldier. As a matter of fact, it came from the same pile that the painted PASGT came from.
In the pile with the painted motorcycle helemt was also t-shirt from a graduate of Tactical Mobility Training. TMT specializes in training USSF ODA's on how to ride ATV's, dirtbikes, horses, UTV's, etc. Could the painted motorcycle helmet have been used by a SF member who was taking the TMT classes? No way to tell for sure, but I couldn't just leave the helmet and t-shirt there. they certainly were cheap enough.
