Hi guys I thought I would post some pictures of my 80's SADF 44 Bde parabat nutria set. It consists of the following
Slangvel, Short Sleeve shirt, Trousers and a custom made flapcap

Great set you have here, nicely patched Slangvel too! The only thing missing is the beret but from what I've seen they are not hard to pick up.

A fortnight ago we had a gunshow here and I was introduced to an Australian who was ex-Selous Scout and then joined the Parabats after the 'fall' of Rhodesia. His likeness appears in most of the Selous Scouts books and the 'Philistines' book. He is currently writing a book of his own. Unfortunately, he sold most of his gear in the mid '80s when he returned to Australia and had to support a young family - fortunately though some of what he sold is still around, distributed amongst the collections of a number of local collectors (I have his Parafox chest rig for one).
I do remember his beret had the cloth patch and not the metal germanic one. The Rhodie style nutria cap was a Parabat 'special' and he regrets not hanging onto it (as well as the beret) - luckily for him I know where both reside ...
