A nice example of NOS RAF parka - 1960/70s. I believe this was the type issued for use in Canada although there are various accounts of it being issued in the UK for guard duty etc. Really nicely made parka. I particularly like the hood fleece panel to keep your neck warm!

As ever additonal info, pictures, context and stories welcome! BuryDave iirc you have some experience of using these parkas..

Heavy as fook. I had a couple pass through my hands as i got them for cheap and re-sold them as ventile parkas (which they are). Some fools believe that ventile has magic properties and are prepared to pay silly money for the stuff. No need to tell them the truth when there's money to be had is there ? Laughing

Didn't realise they were ventile. And yes very heavy - this must be a 4kg parka!

Yes Jason, definately ventile. I bought several parkas for around £25 each and turned them on for between £150 & £200 each. Smile

The hood is too big to be usable, the lining very thick and heavy and, unless you are 6'3", they are generally too long for easy movement. Unless you are working at CFB Cold Lake in winter that is and then they would be pretty useful Wink

Good to know Dave - thanks. Sadly the waist belt is missing which I imagine will be nigh on impossible to find a replacement espy nos.

Well, if I ever see on Jason, I'll pick one up. Though you know it'll be bound to be the blue/grey version !
