British DPM PVC Waterproof Jacket Empty British DPM PVC Waterproof Jacket

Post by ehrentitle Sun Jul 15, 2012 10:15 pm

I picked up this British DPM PVC Waterproof Jacket (SMOCK, MAN'S WATERPROOF D.P. PVC) in a trade with soldier in the 1st Royal Tank Regiment when I was stationed with the US Army in Germany in the late 1980s. I wore it on several occasions as a rain jacket when I was on active duty.

Since I do not collect British uniforms could you give me an idea as to value and rarity of this item.

I have several other pieces of British kit from that trade but they are buried away in the garage. Except for a LINER EXTREME COLD WEATHER TROUSERS that the jacket was wrapped around.

Thanks Gemini. Adding the eyes was my effort to make it look more life like. But he turned out to have that wide eyed surprised look or 1,000 meter stare.

Worth only a couple of quid Im afraid.

When wearing these you tended to get wetter on the inside due to sweating so much as they arent breathable at all Sad

First hand user of one of these I can tell you they horrid bits of kit. Ideal if you were on guard but not if you were tabbing.

ehrentitle, basically the guy's have said it all, these jackets are not worth a lot of cash ( but worth a lot more to your memories I guess).

They are indeed one of the worst designed British water -proof Jackets ever, but do give you that cosy sauna feeling, when wearing one. Smile

I had a set of these issued, I still have the trousers somewhere, the Jacket literally fell apart over the years.

Believe it or not I still use the trs that were issued with these jackets as,yes you sweat your nads off(not as much as you would wearing the jacket) and find them more hard wearing than the crappy MVP trs and cheaper to replace if they get damaged.

I appreciate all of you comments. Yes it has a good number of memories. I wore it in Germany until I purchased the much superior US Army Gortex Jacket which is designed to breathe but still repel water.
