DPCU Trousers 1st model ??

Hi Guys.

I have a question for you , am I right in thinking they are the 1st model of DPCU?

The label all be it very washed out say's they were manufactured in 1989, other than that no clues I'm afraid, any help with be most appreciated.

You're correct in that they were the first production DPCU. The first DPCU cams came out 1983 and were a trial set with sharply different pocket configuration reminiscent of the US Jungle ODs. AFAIK the first production DPCUs were issued '89 -'90. In the next few years the shirt would change slightly although the pants would remain relatively unchanged until the intro of Land 125.

Bit more info to add, I have several 1988 dated examples, but have never found any earlier dated standard issue despite reading claims that there were 1986 dated standard issue sets but never seen any hard evidence, just claims. Note I am not referring to the 1982 dated trial DPCUs, which as Filupe mentions I think were issued in 1983?

Check if it has a back pocket on the butt (wallet pocket). 1989 issue shouldn't. I think the back pocket came in either 1990 or 1991 issue trousers.

To be honest - I'll have to check. I have a number of the trial sets buried away somewhere ...

We really should do a 'complete guide to the evolution of DPCU' - I have *most* of the variations, I think, squirrelled away from the Q-store over the years as I did one-for-one swaps for crap that I 'acquired' ...

Regarding the trials pieces I never knew they existed, but I do now.

Yeah good idea - I too have about 7x 94L plastic tubs full of DPCU that I need to sort through... probably some doubles, but pieces from 1982 to current. Maybe I should stop sorting Polish boxes and start documenting DPCU for a while...

Just to add some more info to this discussion, the only DPCU item so far I've seen dated between 1982 and 1988 is the 1987 issue DPCU Japara.
